Antin-1 sweet potato variety is first introduced by  M. Joseph. et al, a researcher from Indonesian Legumes and Tuber Crops Research Institute (Balitkabi) Malang to be developed commercially by food and food processing industries including the provision of pharmaceutical raw materials. . This variety contains anthocyanins as antioxidants to avoid free radicals causing aging, cancer and other degenerative diseases.

Antin-1 sweet potato variety is a crossbreeding product between Samarinda local varieties from Blitar and local varieties of Papua Kinta. This variety is tolerant to drought. It contains up to 33.39 mg antocyanins/100 g and has an attractive color pattern i.e. purple and white flesh. Its potential yield reaches 33.2 tons / ha with the harvesting age of 4 to 4.5 months.

This variety has many excellences such as its attractive color which made it more interesting to be processed as potato chips. Besides its ability to counteract free radicals, the anthocyanins may also functioned as anti-mutagenic and anti-carcinogenic to fight against mutagens and carcinogens found in food and its processed product. The anthocyanins also prevent disturbance on liver functions, anti-hypertension as well as reduce blood sugar content (anti hyperglysemic).
